Professor Gupta is the author of over seventy papers and four books: Getting China and India Right (Jossey-Bass, February 2009), The Quest for Global Dominance (Jossey-Bass, 2001 and 2nd Edition, 2008), Smart Globalization (Jossey-Bass, 2003) and Global Strategy and Organization (John Wiley, 2003). The recipient of numerous awards for excellence in research and teaching, he has been recognized by BusinessWeek as an Outstanding Faculty in its Guide to the Best B-Schools, inducted into the Academy of Management Journals' Hall of Fame, and ranked by Management International Review as one of the "Top 20 North American Superstars" for research in strategy and organization. One of his papers was recognized as one of the ten most-often cited articles in the entire 40-year history of Academy of Management Journal. As a top researcher and thought leader, Professor Gupta's papers have appeared in major journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Organization Science, MIT Sloan Management Review, Journal of Business Strategy, Human Resource Management, and Business Horizons. Financial Times has published four of Professor Gupta's papers in a series on "Mastering Global Business." James B. Sanders

He is also Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at the R.H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland where he teaches New Venture Creation, Entrepreneurial Finance, Social Entrepreneurship and International Entrepreneurship. Until recently he was President of the Columbia Group which provides investment and assistance for startup companies.Earlier he was consultant to the World Bank where he developed a series of entrepreneurship programs for emerging countries. He led the research and public policy program at the Software Publishers Association and the Information Technology Association of America. This included leading the industry group that performed the following studies, Global Software Piracy Analysis Global Economic and Social Impact of Information Technology; a 72 Country Analysis Skill Requirements for the Global IT Workforce. He is the former CEO of two software firms and two corporate new ventures. He was Vice President/General Manager Cendant Corporation, Director, New Ventures at Time Inc., Manager for Strategy and Product Management for Texas Instruments. Earlier he was an industry analyst at IDC and Director of Competitive Intelligence Research for FIND/SVP. He holds a MA in Information Science from Columbia University and has completed all the degree requirements for a doctorate in entrepreneurship and public policy issues at George Washington University except the dissertation.

Mike Fierro
Mike Fierro is a principal of Dynamed Solutions, a technical service, staffing, and consulting firm serving the healthcare industry. Mike has helped design and lead several RHIO efforts, and has experience in the full life cycle of these efforts, including stakeholder involvement, legislative processes, technical infrastructure and business case development. Mike served on the leadership committee of the board of directors of the MD/DC Collaborative for Healthcare Information Technology for two years, and is currently serving on the leadership committee of an HIE effort for Johns Hopkins Medicine. Prior to joining Dynamed, Mike was the Associate Vice President for Healthcare Informatics at CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. In this position, Mike oversaw CareFirst's efforts in clinical decision support, predictive modeling, statistical analysis. provider profiling, care trend analysis, account reporting, and medical data systems. His role was to leverage CareFirst's large data stores into a competitive advantage through a better understanding of what's driving the utilization patterns and cost trends for members, providers, and employer groups. Mike spent 11 years at CareFirst. Prior to working at CareFirst, Mike held various healthcare analytic and data warehousing positions at Johns Hopkins Health Plan, Prudential Health Care Plan, and Chesapeake Health Plan. Mike received a BS degree in Finance from Villanova University.

Dr. Lofstrom also has considerable business and management experience prior to her current academic career. Her research interests include issues related to innovation, collaboration, and competitive advantage in the biotechnology field and in a prior academic position, she developed and taught M.B.A. courses on the business of biotechnology, and competitive strategies of pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms. Dr. Lofstrom holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Management and an M.B.A. in Strategic Management & Finance from the University of Minnesota.
